What is in Parletto core v0.1.2

Parletto core v0.1.2 fixes the mobile channel, thread and settings views at phone widths, seeds demo messages again, shortens caching for unfingerprinted files, and adds contributor guidelines.

Parletto core, the open-source app behind Parletto, has a new release. v0.1.2 was tagged on October 22, 2026, after v0.1.0 and v0.1.1. Most of it is fixes for phones. This post sums it up for anyone evaluating Parletto. The source is opening shortly.

Added

  • A Code of Conduct, a pull request template, a feature request issue template and an issue chooser for contributors.

Fixes on phones

In channel, thread and DM views at phone widths:

  • Long URLs and code blocks no longer make the conversation scroll sideways. Code blocks scroll on their own.
  • The composer starts one line tall, so messages stay visible with the keyboard open.
  • The layout uses the dynamic viewport height, so iOS Safari’s toolbar no longer covers the input.
  • Attachment previews in the composer are capped in height.
  • The image viewer shows one close button.
  • The send button has an accessible name, and it now shows a paper-plane icon instead of one that looked like a warning triangle.
  • The organization switcher no longer cuts off “Create new organization”.

In forms and settings:

  • Inputs are 16px on small screens, so iOS Safari no longer zooms on focus.
  • Reloading /user/settings/about no longer returns a 404.
  • The delete-organization dialog header no longer shows on the page.
  • The member invite form and member list fit at 390px.
  • The password pages fill the viewport.
  • Onboarding shows the correct member count.

Fixes for self-hosting and development

  • bin/setup and bin/rails db:seed seed demo messages again (in General, Tech Talk, a thread and a DM) instead of leaving every channel empty.
  • robots.txt, icons, the web manifest and error pages are now cached for 5 minutes instead of a year, so changes reach browsers and CDNs quickly. Fingerprinted assets are still cached for a year, now marked immutable.
  • Boot logs no longer say “Active Storage configured for R2” on installs that store uploads on local disk. The note appears only when the r2 service is in use.
  • Asset builds (assets:precompile, vite:build) now stop within seconds with a clear error when node_modules/.bin/vite is missing. Before, they could call themselves until the Docker VM ran out of memory. The Docker build also no longer runs npm ci a second time during precompile.
  • The docs have Compose backup and restore commands, with the real volume name.
