What is in Parletto core v0.1.0 and v0.1.1

Parletto core has its first tagged releases. Here is what v0.1.0 includes, from channels and threads to one-command self-hosting, and what v0.1.1 fixed the same day.

Parletto core, the open-source app behind Parletto, has its first tagged release. v0.1.0 was tagged on October 22, 2026, and v0.1.1 followed on the same day with fixes for older phones. This post sums up both for anyone evaluating Parletto. The source is opening shortly.

v0.1.0: the first tagged release

What you get

  • Team chat with organizations, public channels, direct messages and threaded replies.
  • @mentions, emoji reactions, and file attachments.
  • Message editing that keeps a version history.
  • Real-time delivery over WebSockets, with no Redis needed.
  • Unsent drafts are saved in your browser and restored when you come back.
  • URLs pasted or typed into the composer become links.
  • After you log in, Parletto reopens the organization you last used.

Self-hosting

Self-hosting takes one command. Core ships a docker-compose.yml and a prebuilt linux/amd64 image. If Cloudflare R2 is not configured, uploads are stored on local disk and served by the app. The self-hosting guide walks through the setup.

Under the hood

  • The front end is now entirely React.
  • Demo users are seeded only in development.
  • The old sign-up URL /users/new redirects to /signup.

Fixes

  • Saving an edited message works, and so do live updates right after signing in.
  • A message cannot be sent until its attachments have finished uploading.
  • Tapping beside an image closes the image dialog.
  • Reloading a thread URL opens the thread panel.
  • In production, the cache, queue and cable databases each use their own migrations.

Security

  • Sign-up is rate-limited, like sign-in and password reset.
  • The Content Security Policy uses a random nonce per request.
  • Credential keys are excluded from Docker images.
  • CI runs Brakeman, bundler-audit and npm audit, and Dependabot keeps dependencies current.

v0.1.1: fixes for older phones

v0.1.1 fixes two problems on phones:

  • iOS Safari 16.4–17.1 and Chrome 111–119 (older Android phones) can open Parletto again. Before the fix they got a 406 “browser not supported” page.
  • The long-press message menu (reply in thread, react, edit, delete) now stays open after your finger lifts.

It also changes how images are published. Docker images are now built only for release tags, and latest tracks the newest release. Each release has its own vX.Y.Z tag:
